Our purpose is to foster excellence in child-centred play therapy practice for the benefit of children and their families. We will ensure the play therapy workforce in Aotearoa is ethical, competent and culturally-responsive so that vulnerable children affected by trauma, and their whānau, can heal and flourish.

Through listening, comes awareness.Through awareness, comes understanding.Through understanding, comes knowledge. Through knowledge, comes well-being.

What is
Child-Centred Play Therapy?
Evidence-based
When a child experiences change, difficulties, loss or grief, is worried about something, or is struggling at school, they are often unable to express their thoughts and feelings verbally. CCPT’s evidence-based model has proven effectiveness in developing a child’s understanding of and resolving psychological and psychosocial challenges.
Highly Effective Modality
Developmentally appropriate counselling for children
Child Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) is a unique and effective form of child-centred counselling for children aged 2.5-12 whereby the child is able to work through their experiences in the safety of a specially designed playroom setting alongside a trained therapist.
suitable for 2.5-12 year olds
Multiple Positive Outcomes
By allowing the child the freedom to express themselves in a safe and trusting environment, Child Centred Play Therapy helps to foster increased self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-esteem, emotional regulation, self-efficacy, responsibility, emotional literacy and problem-solving skills.
